The video ‘Meet in Dublin’, nominated by Dublin Convention Bureau, has just been awarded the Grand Prix at the 46th Film Festival of Tourist Movies in the spa city of Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.. It is the oldest festival of tourist videos of its kind in the world.

The promotional video was designed, written and produced by the creative team at Tom Meenaghan & Associates.

Compared to the beginnings of the festival, when there were less than 40 participating foreign countries, this year the number of competing states rose to 136. The juries traditionally seek the best films, DVDs and videos, all of which share the same topic: countries, regions or cities.

This year’s Grand Prix Prize awarded out of 775 entries across all the categories goes to the Irish video named ‘Meet in Dublin’, nominated by Dublin Convention Bureau. The theme of the video is ‘What makes Dublin different? and presents the city’s energy, unique character, centuries of history and culture and, most importantly, that Dublin is a world-class business tourism destination for planners and delegates alike.

The video deserved Grand Prix thanks to its content, artistic contribution to the development of domestic and foreign tourism and help to widen international use of images.

The host of this traditional event is CzechTourism, the agency promoting the Czech Republic as an ideal tourist destination on domestic and foreign markets. Just like Tour Region Film, CzechTourism is celebrating its 20th anniversary since its establishment in 1993.
